Update Instructions:
ROG Front Base
and ROG OC Panel
Important!
The following steps apply to ROG Maximus
VII Gene, Maximus VII Hero, Maximus VII Ranger (Z97) motherboard models only.
This software update is only required for
OC Panel firmware version 2014 or earlier versions and also for Front Base
firmware version V36 or earlier versions.
1.
Check the current version of your ROG
Front Base or OC Panel firmware and your motherboard¡¦s BIOS.
A.
For the ROG Front Base you may do either
of the following options:
Option 1: Press and hold the Selector
knob until the software version appears on the upper-right corner of the
screen.
Option 2: Check the back side of your ROG
Front Base LCD screen. You may refer to the following illustration to know
where this information is specifically located. If there is no label, this
means your current firmware is an old version that needs to be updated.
B. For
the OC Panel, press and hold the clear button until the software version
appears.
C.
Check the BIOS version of your motherboard
and ensure its compatibility with the software update before you proceed.Refer
to the following table for compatibility details and update the BIOS
accordingly:

2.
Check your package and prepare the following
items prior to starting the update:
USB Q-connector
ROG Front Base cable
3.
Turn off your computer then open the
chassis of your motherboard to take out the ROG Front Base or OC Panel. Refer
to your user guide for details.
4.
Connect the bundled ROG Front Base cable
to the ROG Front Base or OC Panel, as shown in the illustration below.
5.
Connect the other end of the ROG Front
Base cable to the bundled USB Q-connector as shown in the illustration below.
Ensure that the pins of the USB Q-connector matches the ports on the ROG Front
base cable.
6.
Connect the USB Q-connector to an
available USB 2.0 connector on your motherboard.
7. Replace
the chassis of your motherboard then turn on your computer.
8.
Open the software update (for Front Base)
or firmware update (for OC Panel)
you downloaded to begin installation and follow the instructions onscreen.
9.
Once the software/ firmware update is
done, remove the USB Q-connector from the ROG Front base cable and reconnect
the ROG Front Base to your motherboard via the ROG_EXT connector. Refer to your
ROG Front Base User Manual or Quick Start Guide for details on how to install
the device.
Note: For
succeeding firmware updates, you no longer need to update your device using the
USB 2.0 connector.
